After many years of experience in the UK and Dutch market, Weber offers a well-proven system for the collection and transportation of clinical waste. These specially configured variants of the standard Weber wheelie bin carry UN approval for housing and transporting Category B waste. The hospital waste containers are available in five sizes: 240, 360, 660, 770 and 1100 litres – flat lid only.
The medical waste containers have been independently tested by an accredited institute and certified by HM Government. They are suited for hospitals, clinics, laboratories, research institutions, dental surgeries, veterinary practices, nursing homes, funeral homes and disposal companies, and approved for Category B medical waste with medium or low risk of infection – packing groups II and III according to ADR (European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road).
All clinical waste containers are yellow as standard; other colours and lid combinations are available on request. Every container has the UN 3291 code stamped directly on the body, together with the month and year of manufacture.

The clinical waste bins may also be used for the collection of small containers approved for packaging group I, provided the packaging remains intact.

Weber has been manufacturing waste containers in Germany since 1969. The clinical waste range is built to the same premium standards as the regular wheelie bin programme – with the additional features required for safe handling of infectious and bio-medical waste. An average hospital generates around 7 to 8 tonnes of waste per day – including sharps, anatomical and pathological material, and infectious waste. Safe containment from ward to collection point is not optional; it is a regulatory requirement under ADR and national healthcare waste legislation.
Key Product Features
All clinical waste containers come with a snap-in triangular slam lock and solid lock hook as standard. The lid locks automatically when closed and opens only with a triangular key – meeting regulatory requirements for unsecured ward areas as well as dedicated waste rooms.
All containers are manufactured from 100% virgin High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) with integrated UV stabilisation. Resistant to hospital disinfectants and cleaning agents, and to extreme temperatures from −25 °C to +80 °C. Materials are free of harmful substances and approved for food-grade use.
The sealed bottom without drain plugs prevents any accidental leakage of liquids, eliminating risk of environmental contamination or cross-infection. This is a critical requirement for Category B infectious waste handling under ADR.
For full traceability and audit compliance, containers can be equipped with an RFID transponder beneath the comb. All movements and emptying cycles can be recorded internally and by the disposal service provider – supporting regulatory documentation requirements.
All clinical waste containers conform to EN 1501, ensuring a secure fit on all known lifting devices and locking in position during the tipping cycle. Optional towing systems with fixed or detachable arms are available for movement across large hospital or clinic sites.
Smooth inner walls and rounded corners protect closed waste bags from damage during handling. The design allows easy rinsing and disinfection, maintaining the hygiene standards expected in clinical environments.
Along with mandatory UN 3291 markings (including month and year of manufacture), Weber can print your organisation's logo on the front and rear of the container – useful for NHS trusts, private hospital groups and waste management operators.

Due to the high capacities available, typically one hospital waste container per floor is sufficient. With five sizes from 240 to 1100 litres, Weber clinical waste containers fit in lifts, corridors, sluice rooms, waste stores and outdoor collection points without issue.
The 4-wheeled containers (660, 770 and 1100 L) come with 200 mm castors as standard, with foot brakes at the front. 160 mm and 125 mm castors are available on request. The 360 litre model can also be supplied with 300 mm wheels for easier manual handling over longer distances.
