The foot pedal mechanism consists of a steel rod running from the pedal at the base of the container to a lever arm at the lid hinge. The side handles are fitted to the upper body of the container and serve two purposes: they allow staff to position and move the container by hand, and they function as the release mechanism for the central brake. Optional side grab-handles (without central brake) allow two-person lifting and manual repositioning of 4-wheel containers in confined spaces. The safety stopper is a spring-loaded catch on the trunnion that prevents the container from disengaging from the lifting fork during the tipping cycle. Ø 250 mm wheels are available for the 240 L and 360 L wheelie bins. The larger diameter improves mobility on gravel, cobblestones and uneven outdoor surfaces. For the 360 L wheelie bin, Ø 300 mm wheels are additionally available. All options use the same axle bore as the standard Ø 200 mm wheel.

Central Braking System — 4-Wheel Containers
The central braking system operates on two of the four castors simultaneously through a mechanical linkage. The brake is applied by pressing a foot pedal on the right-hand side of the container. It is released by inserting a triangular key into the right-hand side handle. Used where containers must be held stationary on slopes or in areas with vehicle traffic.
Weber offers three non-standard castor types for 4-wheel containers: heavy-duty castors with steel rims and roller bearings for loads above the standard rating or longer-distance transport; non-marking rubber wheels for use on sealed indoor floors in factories, clean rooms or food production; and polyamide wheels for environments with chemical exposure or temperature extremes.

Steering Lock (Directional Lock)
Steering locks are fitted to two of the four castors on a container to restrict their rotation to a single axis. This prevents the container from veering sideways when being towed. Steering locks are a prerequisite for safe use of a towing kit and must be specified at the time of order. Available for 660 L and 1100 L containers.

Steel-Rim Castor with Ball Bearings
Steel-rim castors with ball bearings are the highest-load castor option available for Weber 4-wheel containers. The steel rim significantly extends wheel life compared to solid rubber on hard surfaces such as concrete yard floors and ramps. Ball bearings reduce rolling resistance and suit containers that are moved frequently over longer distances.

The destacking aid is a flat steel frame that mounts on forklift tines and slides between two stacked wheelie bins. A chain with a locking pin secures the lower bin to the frame while the upper stack is lifted away. Can options be added to an existing Weber waste container?
No. All factory-fitted options must be specified at the time of order. Weber containers are injection-moulded; apertures, chip-nests and lock recesses are part of the mould. Options involving mechanical parts (castors, lifting trunnions, foot pedals) are fitted during production. Retro-fitting is not possible.
Are Weber container options compatible with other manufacturers' bins?
The options described on this page apply exclusively to Weber-manufactured plastic waste containers. Chip-nest geometry, trunnion positions and lid-lock formats are specific to Weber's own mould designs.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom hot-foil printing?
